A research into the broader meaning of the concept of light, which is not only illumination and warmth but also a tool for measuring time. Meridium is a collection of wall lamps inspired by sundials that once adorned the facades of buildings, using sunlight to indicate the passing of hours through the shadow cast by the gnomon on a dial. The sundial reappears as an interior lamp. The new context of use subverts the relationship between shadow and light: the sundial’s dial transforms into a minimal disc, and the gnomon is replaced by a metal profile that becomes itself a carrier of light. The user becomes the creator, freely moving the magnetic light source to orient the flow according to personal needs, creating ever-changing chiaroscuro effects on the lamp’s surface. The lamp is offered in a range of colors and finishes: glossy paint, removable elastic fabric cover, and a plaster finish, which recalls the original placement of sundials.
